Soulful singer Lady Donli is part of an expanding pool of artists who are transcending the alté scene into newer spaces; her addictive fusion of alt-jazz, highlife, neo-soul, and psychedelic funk is one of the reasons her music is so well-received in large pockets across the globe.
She put on a stellar performance alongside “The Lagos Panic” – a band she assembled in 2021. Donli thrilled her intimate audience to renditions of fan favourites such as “Cash”, “Suffer Suffer”, “Corner” and other songs from her critically acclaimed “Enjoy Your Life” album.
Donli was joined by Tomi Thomas for a boisterous performance of their collaboration – “Ice Cream”. It was an overall beautiful evening put together in collaboration with Alliance Francaise | Mike Adenuga Centre.
Post performance, Donli’s manager, Opus said “The intimate show was intended to be a sort of curtain call to the ‘Enjoy Your Life’ era, since this would be the last time she performs those records in Lagos before the imminent release of her sophomore album.”
He said “Donli is a stickler for perfection as far her craft is concerned. She is an artist who respects the art form and will not compromise on any aspects including the art of performance which was on display tonight. He says “we are very optimistic about the future for Donli”
